Agility Planner Facts

Assists planners in characterizing enterprise applications, servers, and services

Stores enterprise-wide inventory:

  • Models current applications
  • Stores current security, privacy, and manageability profiles

Profiles applications:

  • Manages relationships between application components
  • Implements full meta-model that enables planners to tag each component with enterprise-specific data (e.g. performance, latency, security, or geographic requirements)

Prioritizes new Agile IT asset development:

  • Computes Cloud Value and Cloud Readiness to identify the best candidates for cloud migration
  • Enforces architectural planning policies
  • Participates in the Agility Platform policy and governance lifecycle

Agility Planner

Enterprises can use Agility Planner to quickly evaluate existing and newly requested workloads and determine their suitability for deployment as services or in the cloud. Planner uses your existing application, server, and infrastructure information (from standard information sources like CMDBs) to:

  • Analyze, classify, and score each workload according to a programmable criteria set
  • Generate Cloud Readiness™ and Cloud Value™ scores

These two metrics identify workloads that are best suited for deployment in cloud environments, and allow planners and architects to prioritize migration activities and the development of new application stacks. Also, Planner recommends which deployment environments and virtual machine image types are most appropriate for each workload by automatically comparing workload needs to leading market offerings. In addition to identifying top priorities for migration or development, Planner helps IT managers quickly eliminate applications that are unsuitable for migration.
