Agility Orange Book™

It’s all too common for vendors to say, “Here, buy my software product and everything will be wonderful.” ServiceMesh believes that the movement toward an Agile IT operating model requires more than just a software platform. Because of this, ServiceMesh has assembled the Agility “Orange Book,” a knowledge-base of validated wisdom (AKA “stuff that works”) to help companies move forward quickly and avoid common pitfalls. As clients work with the ServiceMesh Professional Services team, subject matter experts apply the lessons documented in the Agility Orange Book and customize them to suit the needs of a particular enterprise.

The Agility Orange Book comprises:

  1. Common Terminology – It’s difficult for everybody to be on the same page unless we’re using the same terminology. The Agility Orange Book has collected various terms together into a taxonomy and glossary.
  2. Standard Processes – In some cases, new processes must be put into place before a company can fully move toward a demand-driven, everything-as-a-service operating model. The Agility Orange Book provides a set of processes “off-the-rack” so that companies do not have to develop them from scratch.
  3. Reference Architecture – There are many moving parts in the new architecture. The Agility Orange Book provides a reference architecture that serves as a known-good starting point for a customer-specific architecture fitted to the needs of specific enterprises.
  4. Comprehensive Stack and Script Library – Many enterprises use the same ingredients and automate the same sorts of activities. The Agility Orange Book pulls together a collection of scripts and stacks so that enterprises can utilize common, tested components without having to start from scratch.
  5. Implementation Details and Experience – Last, but certainly not least, the Agility Orange Book pulls together a set of implementation details and experience gained by ServiceMesh and its customers through multiple different enterprise environments, proofs-of-concept, and deployments. These can help enterprises understand which projects might be prioritized as immediate workstreams and how to best get started.
